Language
Portuguese is the national language. Knowledge of English is decidedly increasing, particularly in large cities. Spanish is understood nearly everywhere in the borderline regions. In the central and southern regions of the country, German and Italian are second languages, and even a number of Japanese-speakers can be found in the States of São Paulo and Paraná, as well as in the Amazon region.
